Arsenal 1 – 2 Man Utd

Manchester United (2nd) – 16 Wins, 3 Draws, 3 Losses

Player Ratings

GK, Lindegaard – 7.0

Should have done better with Van Persie’s goal, but again proved he should continue as the #1 over De Gea.

CB, Smalling – 7.5

Was caught out by Rosicky which nearly led to a Van Persie goal. Otherwise, Smalling had a good game.

CB, Evans – 8.0

Evans has been performing well, finally getting a long run in the team with the injuries to Vidic and Ferdinand.

RB, Jones – 6.0

Having just recovered from injury, Jones suffered an ankle injury in the 12th minute which will likely keep him out for 2-3 weeks.

LB, Evra – 8.5

An inspiring performance from the Captain, Evra is performing as well as he has in years.

CM, Carrick – 8.0

Another confident performance with precise passing and tackles, Carrick has become United’s best central midfielder.

CM, Giggs – 9.0 (1 Assist)

Man of the Match. The evergreen Giggs was able to dictate the pace of play and consistently outplayed the much younger Arsenal midfield.

RW, Valencia – 9.0 (1 Goal, 1 Assist)

Has come on strong in 2012, and may very well be the best classic winger in the Premier League. Scored an unstoppable header and played a great one-two with Park to set-up Welbeck for the 2nd goal.

LW, Nani – 7.5

Made some great runs from the left and almost scored a great goal, denied by a fine save. Played well with Evra and Giggs down the left, forcing Arsenal to make a right back change at half-time.

ST, Rooney – 7.0

Wasn’t able to influence the game as much as he could have, with most of United’s best play going down the wings.

ST, Welbeck – 8.0 (1 Goal)

Another fine performance from Welbeck. He often seems to be out of the game, but always makes the most of chances. Showed his pace when beating Mertesacker and then his skill when he poked the ball past Sczeszny while stumbling, only to be thwarted on the goal line by the gangly Mertesacker.

Sub, Rafael – 7.0

Came on for Jones early in the game, though subbed later for Park. While his defensive abilities often fail him, Rafael is always an attacking threat and showed why he should be given a run in the first team with some great surging runs and inventive passing.

Sub, Scholes – 6.5

Came on for the injured Nani to sure up the midfield.

Sub, Park – 7.0

Was integral in the build up to the 2nd goal.
